October is National Domestic Violence Awareness month. This year New York State celebrates the tenth anniversary of “Shine the Light on Domestic Violence” by once again planning to turn the State purple to increase public awareness of domestic violence. On October 19th you can show your support by wearing purple to “Shine the Light on Domestic Violence.” The color purple represents the courage, survival, honor and dedication to ending domestic violence.
